Validates the MIRA-TN Index for assessing treatment needs in children, indicating its reliability.
Background: Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization (MIH) is a common dental condition that requires effective assessment tools for proper management in pediatric patients. The MIH RATING AND TREATMENT NEEDS (MIRA-TN) Index has been developed to standardize the evaluation of MIH severity and treatment needs. Objective: This study aims to validate the MIH RATING AND TREATMENT NEEDS (MIRA-TN) Index as a reliable tool for assessing MIH in pediatric patients. Methods: A sample of 150 children aged 6-12 years from Bopal was evaluated for MIH using the MIH RATING AND TREATMENT NEEDS (MIRA-TN) Index. Inter- and intra-examiner reliability was calculated using Cohen's Kappa coefficient to assess the agreement between examiners. Results: Statistical analysis revealed high reliability, with Cohen's Kappa values indicating excellent agreement between examiners. The results support the utility of the MIH RATING AND TREATMENT NEEDS (MIRA-TN) Index in guiding MIH treatment decisions. Conclusion: The MIH RATING AND TREATMENT NEEDS (MIRA-TN) Index demonstrates significant advantages in the clinical management of MIH, providing a standardized and reliable method for assessing the condition and informing treatment strategies.
