Abstract

Additive manufacturing (AM), a rapidly growing field of application, is widely used to create environmentally friendly energy production and storage systems. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of recent developments in the production of renewable energy systems (RESs) using AM technologies, focusing on advantages, challenges, and possible solutions. The review provides in‐depth information on the advantages, challenges, and proposed solutions for this synergy. First, the building blocks of AM technologies will be summarized. Then, key materials used in renewable energy power plant applications, such as nuclear, wind, solar, and fuel cells, will be introduced. In the third phase, the performance and manufacturing processes of renewable energy power plant components produced with these technologies will be examined in detail. Finally, a perspective will be presented by discussing the benefits, current limitations, and future research objectives of using AM for renewable energy power plant systems. The review aims to explain the research paradigm by providing a clear indication of the current stage of AM use in the construction of energy production and storage devices to help achieve the goal of net zero carbon emissions.
