Step-test VO2 estimation may aid risk evaluation; leaves open prospective validation before clinical use.
Hughes et al. (2017) conducted a cross-sectional in Healthy adults (n=2,286). Tecumseh sub-maximal step test was evaluated on Agreement between VO2max estimated by Milligan equation and Astrand/Van Dobeln equations (Lin's concordance coefficient) (r 0.80, 95% CI 0.79-0.81). Maximal oxygen consumption estimated from the Tecumseh step test showed good agreement with the Astrand/Van Dobeln equations (r=0.80) and was inversely associated with cardiovascular risk factors.
