Randomized trial examines nonlinear superpositions in self-dual Yang–Mills fields, indicating a strong connection with electromagnetism.
The realization of self-dual Yang–Mills fields as nonlinear superpositions of plane waves is treated in analogy with electromagnetism. Despite the nonlinear nature of the fields, there is a complete correspondence between the two theories. The asymptotic behavior of asymptotically flat fields is examined and the plane wave components are shown to decouple on ℐ− and on ℐ+ for such fields and to exibit the character of linear fields when viewed as propagating from ℐ− to ℐ+.
