Therapeutic pericardiocentesis followed by a 3-month course of oral colchicine, with clinical and echocardiographic follow-up through 2 months post-discharge.
Transthoracic echocardiography identified a large circumferential pericardial effusion (measuring up to 30 mm) with chamber collapse consistent with cardiac tamponade physiology.
Pericardiocentesis drained 840 mL of haemoserous fluid, resulting in immediate hemodynamic improvement, symptom resolution, and no effusion recurrence at 2 months.
