Abstract A follow‐up report of the results of intensive rehabilitation procedures applied to selected patients with advanced rheumatoid arthritis over a five year period stresses the fact that the problem is complex but not insoluble. The multiple factors relating to the cause and amelioration of rheumatoid disability are cited.
