Several methods are described for measuring some aspect of the photosynthetic apparatus. The results indicate the division of the members of several genera into two groups. Leaf anatomy, gas exchange, 14 CO 2 labeling, and carbon isotope ratio showed exact correlations in the species tested. The strengths and weaknesses of some of the techniques are indicated.
