Commentary highlights advances in data sharing and management for cardiovascular research, suggesting Canada’s leadership in health data innovation.
In this commentary we describe the rapidly evolving Canadian health data landscape, with a focus on data management and data sharing in cardiovascular research. After a brief discussion of current challenges for health research data sharing, we highlight some of Canada’s cardiac data assets and new innovations to improve data management and cardiovascular research in the era of artificial intelligence. Through strong scientific leadership, transparency, and key infrastructure—including the development of a national health data platform to strengthen Canada’s capacity for data sharing and reuse—the cardiovascular research community is advancing major efforts to position Canada as a leader in health data innovation.
