Demonstrates reduced hole eccentricity in microdrilling, suggesting improved precision.
This study introduces a novel optical, non-contact system for holes centering in micro-drilling, replacing the conventional mechanical touch probe method. The traditional tactile approach proved inadequate for miniaturized components made from ductile materials like magnesium, as the probing action caused surface deformation and alignment errors. The proposed system integrates an optical measurement interface within the manufacturing environment to detect and correct deviations, optimizing hole positioning in cylindrical microcomponents. Experimental results show a 38 % reduction in hole eccentricity and improved repeatability compared to the touch probe method. These findings highlight the opportunity of incorporating the optical system into the production of small components in deformable materials, enhancing precision and process reliability.
