Documents archaeological findings during wind farm development, suggesting limited historical evidence.
A program of archaeological monitoring works was carried out in support of groundbreaking works at Sneddon Law Windfarm, East Ayrshire. The access track and 15 turbines were subject to a continuous and then periodic watching brief. The works identified a simple stratigraphy of topsoil and subsoil throughout Areas A and C. Area B, an area of commercial forestry, contained a stratigraphy of peat overlying clay. The only archaeological features identified related to modern water management in the farmed Areas A and C. The only artefacts recovered were 5 sherds of medieval pottery found in subsoil. As such, no further archaeological works are recommended
