Randomized trial analyzes adaptive approaches to enhance simultaneous interpretation efficiency between Chinese and English, highlighting key strategies.
Simultaneous interpretation of the Chinese–English language pair is a complex process requiring effective adaptation strategies due to significant lexical, grammatical, cultural, and pragmatic differences between these languages. These differences underscore the relevance of this study. The research aimed to analyze key strategies and adaptive approaches in simultaneous interpretation between Chinese and English. The methodological basis of the study included existing theoretical works, experimental work with professional interpreters, and an evaluation of the practical application of interpretation strategies. The results of the study showed that two of the main strategies are compression and ellipsis, which allow interpreters to effectively convey the message by shortening overly lengthy constructions. Explanatory interpretation is indispensable, as culture-specific terms, often lack direct equivalents in the target language. Word rearrangement and changes in syntactic structure are important adaptive approaches due to the differences between the analytical structure of Chinese and the grammatical complexity of English. Anticipation of meaning plays a major role in reducing delays in interpretation and enhancing the interpreter’s efficiency. The experimental part of the study revealed that dividing sentences into meaningful segments helps avoid overloading the interpreter’s working memory. Among the most common errors noted were literal interpretation, loss of numerical information, and omission of key elements due to the fast pace of speech. The results of the work can be used to develop training programs, improve interpreter preparation, and implement new technological solutions in the field of simultaneous interpretation.
