Compares step-up characteristics of resonant converters, indicating efficient power conversion improvements.
Resonant converters are increasingly developed and applied in high step‐up dc/dc power conversion, and there are many different considerations, such as the resonant characteristics and optimization design with the high‐voltage transformer utilized. This paper compares different resonant converters, particularly the typical LC and CLL resonant converters, which are easily implemented based on the transformer structure. Several perspectives are investigated, including the circuit, step‐up characteristics, transformer considerations, and external characteristics. The 3000 W experimental results with a very high step‐up ratio are performed to verify the analysis. The LC resonant converter achieves a higher step‐up ratio, while the CLL resonant converter possesses a higher average efficiency.
