Empirical study examines challenges in education and economic opportunities for Muslim women in Muzaffarnagar, suggesting policy improvements.
Human development is a multidimensional concept that focuses on improving the quality of life of individuals through access to education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and social empowerment. In India, Muslim women represent one of the most marginalized sections of society due to socio-economic and cultural constraints. This study examines the status of human development of Muslim women in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. The research analyzes various indicators such as education, health awareness, employment status, and participation in decision-making. Primary data has been collected through a structured questionnaire from selected respondents in both rural and urban areas of the district. The findings reveal that although some improvements have occurred in educational participation and awareness, Muslim women still face multiple challenges including limited access to higher education, low economic participation, and restricted mobility. The study concludes with policy suggestions to enhance the socio-economic development and empowerment of Muslim women.
