Case report shows functional recovery after reconstruction of an index finger injury with an allograft, highlighting surgical approaches.
Case: A 65-year-old man presented with an index finger dorsal combined saw injury. Examination showed exposed articular defect of the index finger proximal phalangeal base and extensor lag. The proximal phalangeal base articular defect was reconstructed using distal tibial osteochondral allograft and the tendon injury reconstructed with a turn-down interposition graft. The patient attained a painless functional arc of motion at 17 months postoperatively. Conclusion: Proximal phalangeal base fracture-dislocations with partial-articular bone loss pose reconstructive challenges. We present a rare case of proximal phalangeal base articular reconstruction using distal tibial osteochondral allograft. Level of Evidence: Level V .
