Journal Article Extensive reading: an expensive extravagance? Get access Colin Davis Colin Davis Taught for nineteen years in Africa, the UK, and Singapore. For the past ten years he has been an in-service teacher trainer and curriculum developer in Singapore and Cameroon, and in the process has developed extensive reading programmes in secondary schools in both countries. He is now a specialist writer involved in the preparation of English language materials for Singapore secondary schools and has written several English language and literature textbooks and resource books. He is particularly interested in training teachers in materials development, the process approach to writing, and in using thinking skills in teaching materials.
