Ukrainian theatrical and decorative art is now among the leading European scenography schools. Artists of the Ukrainian theater already in the 1920’s and 1930’s were world-famous masters whose works — mock-ups, sketches, decorations, costumes — were exhibited at international exhibitions. The creative process in scenography is determined not only by a combination of objective and subjective factors in the theatrical and artistic art, but also by certain circumstances and norms of aesthetic and political nature of each particular age. This intelligence has shown a real picture of the life of the theatrical artist, before the war and during the war. Two camps of domestic artists — those who managed to evacuate, and those who were forced to remain in the occupied territory, in the end showed a fundamentally different artistic creativity, guided by a political component.
