Sensitivity analysis and nonlinear least square minimization were used to identify parameters in a 6th order nonlinear model of the cardiovascular circulation system.
The study presents a computational approach for sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation in a 6-compartment nonlinear model of the cardiovascular system.
Facilitates parameter estimation in cardiovascular models; leaves open prospective validation for clinical use.
Cardiovascular circulation system has been modeled as a 6th order nonlinear system. Systemic arteries and veins; pulmonary arteries and veins; left and right ventricular chambers of the heart form the six compartments of the model. Sensitivity analysis has been performed for the model and then nonlinear least square minimization technique has been used to identify the model parameters while considering cardiac muscle elastance based auxiliary function and the systemic arterial pressure as the model input and output respectively.
