The current paper is intended to be a pre-test at local level for a more elaborate study at European level, in which the target group is represented by young people who study engineering and want a career in technical field. The importance of soft skills is essential for recruiters, and, therefore, technically-based courses leave room for other courses which can help students develop these skills as well. Thus, communication courses have a special importance, as a result of which students can develop various skills that belong to the instrumental, interpersonal or systemic competences. The objective of the study regards precisely these competences. We want to identify which skills are more developed within these groups of competences, and which one is more important from the viewpoint of the future engineers, making them aware of the fact that communication can be learned and is extremely important both for getting the job they want as well as for their future professional success.
