Most monitoring systems fail not because they lack data, but because they cannotdistinguish **regime drift** from noise. A sensor reading that crosses a thresholdmeans nothing without knowing whether the underlying system has changed state. RML addresses this: detecting when a physical or stochastic system transitionsbetween qualitatively distinct regimes, under noisy sensors and partialobservability — **before** the transition becomes catastrophic.
