The aggregation behaviour of several silicone surfactants in aqueous solutions was studied with different techniques. The simplest systems had a short siloxane backbone and were derived from trisiloxane, but compounds with a longer polysiloxane backbone were also investigated. Surface and interfacial tension measurements showed the typical behaviour of surface active compounds, i.e. a reduction of the surface tension γ and a break in the plot of γ against the ln of the concentration
