Macroscopic electric flux tunneling is considered in a model ferroelectric capacitor with linear passive dissipation. The quasiclassical Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin-Jeffreys barrier factor with dissipation is rigorously shown to be not more than that which is computed without dissipation. In this scheme it would then appear that dissipation does not impede macroscopic tunneling.
