Examines luminescence regulation in YVO4:Yb3+/Tm3+ materials, suggesting effective tuning methods.
In this work, YVO 4 :Yb 3+ /Tm 3+ up‐conversion luminescent material was synthesized by high‐temperature solid‐phase method, and the effects of doping concentration, excitation power, and excitation pulse width on up‐conversion luminescence intensity and color were investigated. Due to the rich cross‐relaxation process between Tm 3+ and the excitation energy density and time‐dependent population path for different energy levels, the up‐conversion luminescence color of YVO 4 :Yb 3+ /Tm 3+ is strongly dependent on the Tm 3+ doping concentration, excitation power, and excitation pulse width, but is not sensitive to Yb 3+ doping concentration. The up‐conversion luminescence intensity is more sensitive to Yb 3+ doping concentration under high excitation power, which is attributed to the higher energy transfer efficiency under higher excitation power. Moreover, under high‐power excitation, YVO 4 :Yb 3+ /Tm 3+ samples present the obvious luminescence quenching phenomenon with increasing Yb 3+ doping concentration, which is not observed even increasing Yb 3+ doping concentration to 30% at low power. These results provide a significant reference for the up‐conversion luminescence regulation of Tm 3+ .
