The dynamics of a spatially homogeneous scalar field, generating a conformally flat Friedman metric, is considered. It is assumed that the scalar field is weakly coupled to ordinary matter and is described by a rather arbitrary potential. The examples of some exact and asymptotic solutions to the non-linear differential equation appearing in the problem, are presented. The possible implications of the solutions for cosmology are briefly pointed out.
