We have used COSMOS measures of POSS and recent UKSTU red photographic Schmidt plates to produce a deep proper motion survey of the Pleiades open cluster. Follow-up infrared photometry of a small sample of candidate low-mass stars and brown dwarfs is presented. In addition to producing a deep luminosity function and mass function, we find a number of very interesting low-luminosity stars and comparison is made with recent theoretical predictions and observations of very low mass stars and brown dwarfs.
