The substance of the commentary by Kracjik, Simmons, and Lunetta is a criticism of the over-generalizations by authors of computer-assisted instruction papers at the 1985 annual meeting of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching. KSL identified as the reasons for these over-generalizations the use of less than state of the art software and of poor criterion measures. This reaction will attempt to examine the validity of the criticisms made in their commentary. Many of their comments are accurate and worth heeding. But, there is some concern regarding a few of the comments made.
