PURPOSE: This observational study examined how demographic, clinical and territorial factors influence prescriptions of electric-powered mobility devices in a metropolitan area of Southern Italy, aiming to clarify which characteristics drive the choice between indoor, outdoor, and mixed-use aids. MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 2024 to July 2025, 572 users were classified according to underlying disorders and type of mobility aids: indoor, outdoor, and mixed-use. CONCLUSIONS: Prescription patterns reflect the interplay between clinical profiles, rehabilitation settings, and territorial characteristics. Data-driven and flexible models that prioritise autonomy-rather than functional restoration alone-may enhance participation, independence, and equitable access to powered mobility technologies.
