Evaluates production planning for precast concrete, suggesting improved efficiency in manufacturing.
Designing and manufacturing high‐performance concrete buildings can lead to cost‐effective and rapid construction. The project's main goal was to develop simulation‐based methods to optimize the planning of precast concrete production from design to production. This involved evaluating strategies for decomposing building structures into individual modules and optimising production sequences. The research aimed to enhance precast concrete production planning systematically, develop a cost model for precast concrete production systems, and enable the automatic generation of simulation models for precast concrete production systems. Key achievements include an ontology for precast concrete production; a simulation framework integrating the semantic Digital Twin concept of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS); and a scheduling method for modern precast concrete production systems incorporating circulation systems. The project has also released several software tools and research papers that provide a foundation for future research at the intersection of construction informatics and manufacturing engineering.
