Space spies on our environment

Towards the end of last year NASA launched the seventh in its series of environmental satellites. Nimbus-G, which is designed to monitor both manmade and natural pollutants, will continuously provide data on the environment to be used by scientists worldwide in an attempt to determine the physical characterisation of the atmosphere, the oceans, the atmosphere ocean interface and earth's heat balance.
