The change in mutual impedance ΔZ resulting from a change Δg in the conductivity of a particular region of a volume conductor is shown to be given by ΔZ = - Δg∫L t ø ·L 003C8; dv. L ø and L ψ are the lead fields associated with the two ports used to measure ΔZ. The integration is over the region where the conductivity has changed. The superscript t indicates that the lead field is to be evaluated following the change in conductivity. An example involving a spherical conductor is provided.
