Calculations are presented of the mean diffusion, mobility, and related phenomenological tensors in a dilute system of identical nonspherical axisymmetric Brownian particles subject to external forces and couples, and immersed in a general homogeneous linear shear flow. Special attention is paid to irrotational flows (especially elongational flows), and to simple shear (Couette) flow. The diffusion coefficient varies with the shear rate, owing to the dependence of the orientational distribution function on the shear. Rheological properties of these systems are also calculated.
