Methodological reference assesses early Qur'anic orthography and numerical analysis implications for Arabic scripts.
Version 2.0 Description This Version 2.0 record updates and reclassifies the earlier Version 1.0 article originally prepared under the draft Journal of Submitters framework. The article is now placed under Qur’an Study Papers and Data Series as QS-METH-001 in the Qur’an Study Methodology Series. The article documents the orthographic and Abjad/GV conventions used in the Qur’an Study project, including early-script considerations, treatment of hamza, Arabic letter ordering, transliteration, and reference tables for numerical analysis. It serves as a methodological reference for later Qur’an Study articles, Root-Word Analysis work, mathematical observations, and related Qur’an-by-the-Qur’an translation materials. The article explains why numerical and Gematrical Value analysis must declare its orthographic baseline before claims are made. It discusses early Qur’anic manuscript orthography, undotted and unvocalized script considerations, hamza treatment, classical Abjad order, and modern Arabic alphabetical order. The included reference tables provide the letter forms, Arabic names, transliteration, Abjad/GV values, and Unicode code points used for reproducible analysis. This article is a methodology and reference document only. It does not include an associated dataset. Full verse-level datasets and proof-specific tables are published separately where applicable. Version 2.0 Update Note Version 2.0 removes the earlier Journal of Submitters / ISSN-oriented framing and reclassifies the article under the Qur’an Study publication structure. The content is retained as a methodological foundation for orthography, Abjad/GV conventions, hamza treatment, and Arabic-letter reference tables used in Qur’an Study publications.
