A vibrational energy absorption spectrum for glass has been assembled from elastic aftereffect data reported in the glass literature and also from internal friction and rigidity modulus measurements. The similarity of the anelasticity of glass to the anelasticity of metal is emphasized. Reference is made to possible applications of this powerful tool to glass technology.
