A time-dependent mean-field theory of the nonlinear electric field response of a charge-density wave pinned by impurities is implemented. It is found that above a threshold electric field ET, the charge-density wave moves with velocity v∝(E-ET)3/2. Some general discussion of the behavior as a function of dimension is included.
