The UK will maintain DCCT-aligned HbA1c reporting to ensure consistency in diabetes care despite the introduction of the IFCC reference method in Europe.
Manley et al. (2004) studied Diabetes. IFCC reference method for calibration of HbA1c vs. DCCT-aligned HbA1c was evaluated. The UK will continue reporting DCCT-aligned HbA1c results for patient care despite the introduction of the IFCC reference method in Europe to prevent fragmentation of diabetes care.
