Demonstrates a fault-tolerant control strategy in wind energy systems, indicating improved reliability.
Fault tolerance is considered crucial in wind turbines to increase reliability and availability. This article describes a fault-tolerant permanent magnet with direct drive and innovative direct control synchronous generator PMSM techniques that can handle high-power semiconductors OPEN-CIRCUIT failure in back-to-back trans missions. The fault-tolerance system consists of five legs. A converter with an interconnected leg linked to an alternator phase, a converter with a shared leg connected to an alternator phase, and a converter with an Alternating Current Triode to its proper grid phase. The development of DTC and DPC procedures for MSC and GSC is the primary contribution of this study. A reliable failure diagnostics method is also provided, providing the information required to immediately activate fault-tolerant remedial measures without the usage of additional sensors. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed fault-tolerant PERMANENT MAGNET SYNCHRONOUS GENERATORS drive, simulation and experimental data are presented.
