The infrared spectra of NaOH, NaOD, and mixtures of these compounds have been studied at room and liquid air temperatures. The results at room temperature, taken together with the Raman spectrum of NaOH, are consistent with the x-ray structure and hydrogen positions postulated in the present work. At liquid air temperature the spectrum of NaOD shows an unexpected complexity which cannot be explained at present.
