Why the study?
A multipolar electrode mapping catheter can increase the density and resolution of electroanatomical mapping, but its utility in AVRT using a right AF pathway warranted demonstration.

High-density multipolar mapping can clearly delineate complex Mahaim pathways, enabling successful targeted ablation.
Mahaim pathways are accessory pathways characterized by slow and decremental antegrade conduction and lack of retrograde conduction.1–4 The atriofascicular (AF) pathway, 1 subtype of Mahaim pathways, usually arises from the right atrial free wall and inserts at or adjacent to the distal right bundle branch (RBB). A multipolar electrode mapping catheter can increase the density and resolution of electroanatomical mapping. We report the utility of such a mapping catheter in a case of atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia (AVRT) using a right AF pathway.

Hasebe et al. (2025) conducted a case report in Atrioventricular reciprocating tachycardia (AVRT) using a right atriofascicular (AF) pathway (n=1). High-density multipolar electrode mapping and radiofrequency ablation was evaluated on Freedom from palpitations.
