This study shows the existence of a long normal polarity zone corresponding to the Cretaceous Quiet Zone, establishes the presence of the controversial interval of reversed polarity between marine magnetic anomalies 33 and 34, and places the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary near the top of the reversed polarity interval immediately preceding anomaly 29.
