The stability conditions for the paramagnetic (PM) phase of the infinite-ranged random Potts model are re-examined. A new replica symmetric ansatz with Potts symmetry breaking yields a phase diagram where the line of Curie temperatures for the onset of a mixed ordered phase matches the stability conditions for the PM phase. Extrema conditions for the free energy indicate that Potts symmetry breaking may not exist for 24, where the transition is first order.
