The study aimed to adapt the Maternal Postpartum Stress Scale (MPSS) to Turkish culture and examine its psychometric properties. This cross‐sectional study was conducted with 272 postpartum women within first postpartum year. Translation‐back translation technique was used for the language equivalence of the scale. Exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and Cronbach’s α coefficient were examined to determine the validity and reliability of the scale. COSMIN guideline was followed in this study. Exploratory factor analysis in the first half of the sample, it was determined that there were three subscales similar to the original scale: infant nurturing, personal needs and fatigue, and body change and sexuality. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, in which the five modification was made, it was determined that the fit indices calculated were χ 2 /df = 2.16, Normed Fit Index 0.85, Comparative Fit Index 0.90, root mean square error of approximation 0.07, Tucker–Lewis index 0.90, and standardized root mean square residual 0.06. Cronbach’s α reliability coefficient and Omega (ω) of MPSS, respectively, were 0.93 and 0.94. The results of the study showed that MPSS is a valid and reliable tool for Turkish culture.
