As the development of Mixed Reality (MR) technologies and applications grows, due to visitors' experience enhancement, cost efficiency and return on investment, they are increasingly exploited by cultural institutions, such as museums, either to further stimulate the visitors' experience whilst in the physical space or to enable remote virtual exploration of important museum exhibits. Acknowledging the growing interest on the effective use of emerging technologies in museums, this paper investigates the use of MR in museums.
