Summary To understand why they fight, we have been videotaping sibling fights so that we can belter develop clinical strategies to reduce sibling conflict. Based on previous research, we have developed a theoretical framework covering the factors that are likely to contribute to sibling conflict which we are testing. These factors include: temperamental characteristics of the siblings themselves., characteristics of the parent-sibling relationship, characteristics of the broader family system, and the interactions among these factors. We propose a multifaccied approach to reducing sibling conflict that lakes into account all of these factors and their interactions.
