This paper offers a new approach for developing a model of nursing emerging from and hence inherently compatible with a philosophy for practice. It builds on the author's earlier work of describing a paradigm for writing a philosophy for practice. The model is that of the Burford Nursing Development Unit in Oxfordshire, England.
