Why the study?
Does f wave amplitude prior to DC conversion predict long-term maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation?
Does f wave amplitude prior to DC conversion predict long-term maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation?
F wave amplitude prior to DC conversion does not predict the long-term maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with atrial fibrillation.
In the Department of Medicine, University Hospital, Uppsala, a series consisting of 35 patients maintained sinus rhythm for more than one year after DC conversion of atrial fibrillation. The actual f wave amplitude prior to the pertinent conversion was determined. The composition of the different f wave sizes in this group was the same as in an unselected sample of atrial fibrillation. The long‐term prognosis after conversion of atrial fibrillation with regard to maintenance of sinus rhythm, cannot be predicted from the f wave amplitude in this series.
