Collision-induced dissociation (CID) of silver–amino acid clusters results in the formation of the silver hydride cluster [Ag4H]+, which mediates CC bond coupling of allyl bromide (see scheme). Energy-resolved CID experiments reveal that the product is 1,5-hexadiene and suggest analogies between the chemistry of the clusters and that of silver surfaces and nanoparticles.
