AbstractSeparate factor analyses of the reported leisure activities of respondents in four community surveys were performed. Essentially the same three factors were obtained in all four samples. The three dimensions of leisure behavior suggested by the factors were called Active-Diversionary, Potency, and Status. Correlations of factor scores with other variables supported these interpretations of the factors. Some theoretical, methodological, and practical implications of the factors were discussed.
