Abstract

Agriculture is the backbone of the rural economy in Uttarakhand, especially in hilly districts like Almora. Farmers in this region mainly cultivate local food grains such as rice, millets, gahat, bhatt, and jhangorai. However, farmers face several challenges related to irrigation, transportation, storage, climate change, and wild animal attacks. The present study was conducted to analyze the major production and marketing challenges faced by farmers in Almora district. Primary data were collected from 100 farmers through a structured questionnaire. The data was interpreted using descriptive statistical techniques and percentage analysis. According to the report, the main issues influencing agricultural output and commercialization in the study area are wild animal assaults, a lack of irrigation facilities, subpar storage systems, and climate change.
