The academic landscape has observed a significant rise in the number of studies on human resource information systems (HRIS), which has replaced traditional human resource management. Our study employed a multi-theoretical lens to identify the antecedents of HRIS adoption and its subsequent outcomes in the context of an emerging Asian nation, such as Bangladesh. The study adopted a deductive reasoning approach and applied convenience sampling methods to gather responses from 267 human resource professionals. Structural equation modelling through SmartPLS version 4.1.1.4 was also employed to analyse the data, with the results showing that the observed antecedents underlying the research model directly impacted behavioural intention, apart from effort expectancy and social influence. The results shed light on the complex factors involved in HRIS adoption, offering guidance for business organisations in their customisation of HRIS operational strategies. The study findings also make significant contributions that help address related gaps in the literature.
