Summary statement By a combination of genetic, transcriptomic and pathogen infection analyses, this study shows a connection between two Arabidopsis photorespiratory proteins, HPR1 and PLGG1, and plant immunity. Elevated CO 2 largely rescues the altered susceptibility of the hpr1 and plgg1 mutants to bacterial infection, highlighting the potential role of photorespiration in effective immune response in plants.
