In the spring of 2010, Evolution joined with other key journals in evolution and ecology to adopt a formal policy requiring that data used in articles published in the journal be deposited in publicly accessible digital archives (Rausher et al. 2010). This requirement was initially discretionary but becomes mandatory for all articles submitted on or after January 1, 2011.
